Assessments for Children & Adults

Understand your learning profile with expert assessment
A dyslexia assessment does more than confirm a diagnosis, it provides insight, understanding and a pathway to tailored support.
Why have an assessment?
A full assessment helps explain persistent reading, writing or spelling difficulties and provides evidence for exam access arrangements such as extra time, a reader or use of a laptop. It can also support university Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) or workplace adjustments.
What you receive
You’ll get a detailed report outlining cognitive strengths and weaknesses, literacy attainment, and practical recommendations. This can be shared with schools, universities, employers or tutors to ensure the right help is in place, and to guide targeted tuition or interventions.
What the Assessment Involves
Assessments are tailored by age and need, using recognised tools to give a clear picture of how someone learns and where difficulties lie.
Areas typically explored:
-
Underlying ability: verbal and visual reasoning
-
Memory: working, visual and phonological memory
-
Phonological awareness: recognising and manipulating sounds in words
-
Processing speed: how efficiently information is understood and used
-
Literacy skills: reading accuracy, comprehension, spelling, and writing
What happens
Beforehand, you’ll complete a background form. The assessment itself takes 2 to 4 hours of interactive tasks and discussion.
Afterwards, you receive a comprehensive written report explaining results, whether dyslexia is indicated, and clear next steps, including recommendations for access arrangements, specialist tuition, or further support.
